Op 23 februari trok Ambassadrice Carli naar De Velinx in Tongeren om de première van Beyond The Edge (fABULEUS/ Piet Van Dycke) achter de schermen mee te volgen. Ondanks de spanning, en hier en daar wat zenuwen, voelde het alsof ze er echt klaar voor waren. Ze ontmoette een hechte groep die enorm veel zin heeft om het publiek mee te nemen in hun verhaal. The power of dance for young audiences #3 - Première Beyond the Edge

On 23 February, ambassador Carli headed to De Velinx in Tongeren to witness the premiere of Beyond The Edge (fABULEUS/Piet Van Dycke). There, she captured the athmosphere of that day and went in conversation with the performers. Despite the tension, and some nerves here and there, she felt that they were more than ready! She met a tight-knit group with a huge appetite to take the audience into their story. Experience this evening with us via video and read the conversations with the dancers here!

In gesprek met de performers

Cédric: ‘We kunnen heel veel gekke dingen met ladders, maar dat kunnen we vooral omdat we goed samen werken. Ik hoop dat als jongeren deze voorstelling zien, dat ze denken: als deze jongeren dat kunnen, dan kunnen wij dat ook!’

Kaat: ‘Ik vind het niet extra spannend om voor leeftijdsgenoten te spelen. Omdat we dezelfde leefwereld delen, vind ik het interessant om net jongeren van mijn eigen leeftijd aan te spreken met de voorstelling. Ik hoop om bij mijn leeftijdsgenoten een beetje zachtheid te kunnen over te brengen, ik denk dat we dat allemaal wel heel graag willen.’

Sara: ‘Niet iedereen is misschien geïnteresseerd in dansvoorstellingen, maar ik hoop dat we met deze voorstelling jongeren kunnen raken en toch kunnen meegeven dat het net wel heel leuk kan zijn om naar zoiets te komen kijken.’

Indira: ‘De voorstelling is iets speciaals, het is echt iets wat je nog nooit eerder hebt gezien en het zal een blijvende indruk nalaten’

In conversation with the artists

Cédric: ‘We can do lots of crazy things with ladders, but we can do that mainly because we work tightly together. I hope that when youngsters see this performance, they will think: if these young people can do that, so can we!'

Kaat: ‘I don't find it extra exciting to play for peers. Since we share the same living environment, I find it all the more interesting to appeal to youngsters of my own age with the performance. I hope to be able to convey a little gentleness among my peers, I think we all crave that.’

Sara: ‘Not everyone may be interested in dance performances, but nevertheless, I hope we can touch youngsters with this performance and still pass on that it can actually be a lot of fun to come and watch something like this.’

Indira: ‘The performance is something special, it's really something you've never seen before and it will leave a lasting impression.’
